Elbow Injuries

Elbow Injuries

While tennis elbow (lateral epicondylitis) may be the best-known elbow injury, the elbows are susceptible to fractures, fracture-dislocations, tendinitis, bursitis and other throwing injuries. Baseball pitchers probably experience more throwing injuries to their elbows than most other athletes due to overuse or hyperextension. Osteoarthritis of the elbow is a common condition among older people. This can happen because of a previous injury such as elbow dislocation or fracture. Most commonly, however, it is the result of a normal wearing away of the joint cartilage from age and activity.
